Put the Sword Away
So Jesus said to Peter, “Put your sword into the sheath. Shall I not drink the cup which My Father has given Me?”
This scripture really grabbed my attention the other day. They had come to arrest Jesus and Peter pulls a sword out and strikes out. They were Jesus enemies come to do Him harm so Peter reacted. We need to make sure we are not fighting battles that the Lord is not fighting. A lot of energy and effort are expended taking offence on behalf of the Lord and attacking people and situations, that He isn’t. The devastating infighting within the church, arguing over practices and positions. Fighting in marriages and families, crazy stuff. Fighting battles that the Lord hasn't asked us to and then losing the war. We attack a lot of stuff that the Lord isn’t.
“But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,
Sheath the heat.
