what are you doing here?
WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?
This is the question the Lord asked his servant the prophet Elijah.
Elijah answered Him and after a series of events the Lord repeats the question, what are you doing here? Elijah repeats the same answer. The Lord response was go and anoint your replacement.
Point, if the Lord repeats a question to you, don’t give Him the same answer. If He didn’t like it the first time it's probably not going to travel well.
Question, how did you and I get to where we are? Circumstances, life, decisions etc all lead us somewhere. We don’t want that conversation with the Lord that Elijah had. What are you doing here? How did you get to this point, physically, mentally, emotionally, relationally, spiritually.
It’s amazing what we can justify to ourselves, what we can talk ourselves into. I've had a meeting like that with the Lord. All my carefully constructed arguments, excuses and reasoning's evaporated almost instantly when He confronted me. There is nowhere to hide from that gaze.
I thought I was done and about to hear, go and anoint your replacement. I had no worthwhile argument, but grace was there and I picked up my sorry and much humbled self and got out of my cave.
Why are you where you are at today? I’m suggesting an intervention, call a meeting with the Lord today and ask Him. How did I get in this spot? Is this a good place for me to be? Is this where you want me?
Front foot it, get ahead of the situation. You might be surprised at His answer.
God is not waiting for you and me to fail, He wants us to get it.
